General College Honors (summa cum laude, magna cum laude, and cum laude) are conferred on graduating seniors who meet the required academic averages. The averages required for honors degrees are 3.9 for summa cum laude, 3.75 for magna cum laude, and 3.5 for cum laude. To be eligible for honors, a student must have completed at least 60 credits with letter grades (A, B, C, D, and F) at Queens College. Departmental Honors are conferred each year on those members of the graduating class who meet standards set by each department. More information about departmental awards is available through your major department. College-Wide Awards are awarded by the Committee on Honors and Scholarships (B Building 310; 997-5502). Students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 or above are automatically considered for college-wide awards.
