(.PDF version)

  • Do if you have scheduled an appointment with an academic advisor, prepare for your meeting by bringing a list of questions with you to direct your academic discussions & ensure that you have not forgotten to ask any vitally important questions.

  • Do take the initiative by actively seeking advise from all of your “advisors” these sources often include your instructors, family, friends, mentors, & faculty.

  • Don’t expect discussions to focus only on scheduling issues.  Some of our best meetings with students are a result of students bringing a variety of questions to our attention.

  • Do stay informed about policies, deadlines & requirements; also verify your understanding of major requirements by reading the Queens College Bulletin, departmental websites & by visiting the Academic Advising Center.

  • Don’t miss important events going on about campus. Department WebPages and the College’s Event’s calendar are both rich resources for events related to potential interest.
