Study Abroad in Italy

Queens College students may choose from a variety of Study Abroad programs offered. Each year, Queens College and many other institutions offer programs of study in Italian throughout Italy.

Since Summer 2003, Queens College and the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute has offered a Summer Program at the University for Foreigners in Perugia. This four-week, six credit program is offered in both June and July. Students also have the option of attending both sessions. For more information on this program contact Joseph Grosso, Calandra Institute/Study Abroad, Kiely Hall 183, 718-997-5769, joseph.grosso@qc.cuny.edu.

The Calandra Institute also offers a Student Exchange Program to several Italian universities, including Catania, Pavia, Siena and Trento. For additional information, contact Ms. Joanne Migliori at the Calandra Institute, 212-642-2094.

Queens College’s Education Abroad Office, Kiely 183, offers a variety of short-term (summer and winter), semester and year programs to Italy. Contact Gary Braglia for more information or call 718-997-5521 or visit the Education Abroad’s website.

For a complete listing of all CUNY Study Abroad programs, visit the CUNY website. For most of the short-term CUNY programs, STOCS scholarships, ranging from $500 - $1500, are available on a competitive basis, also dependent on financial need.

Other Italian programs are offered by SUNY-Stony Brook, SUNY-New Paltz, and other accredited institutions. Additional opportunities may also be available through the Italian Cultural Institute, at 686 Park Avenue, New York City.

When planning to study abroad, students should obtain a Study Abroad permit from the Registrar's office and complete it with their Undergraduate Adviser before leaving, if they wish to transfer credits from the various programs. Upon return, their credentials will be submitted to the Registrar's office (Jefferson Hall 100).
