Italian Program

Honor Society

The department houses a chapter of Gamma Kappa Alpha, the National Italian Honor Society. Gamma Kappa Alpha is a society formed to acknowledge superior scholastic performance in the field of Italian language, literature and culture, and is open to membership at institutions of higher learning in the United States and Canada. The Society encourages college students to acquire a greater interest in, and a deeper understanding of, Italian culture, art and history. For further information and for an application for membership, please contact Professor Rinaldina Russell or other college representatives in King 207.

Awards

The Italian Program offers the Italian Prize, as well as other minor prizes sponsored by Italian business firms and friends of Italian studies at Queens College. Special departmental awards, such as the Robert W. Hartle Prize for Excellence in a Romance language, are also given to students of European Languages and Hispanic.

Italian Club

The Queens College Italian Club hosts a variety of events on campus and off campus. Consult the Student Union Directory on campus.
