Community Relations Goals

The Faculty of the School Will: 

• provide opportunities for students to heighten their awareness of the importance of knowing and participating in the communities they serve, developing community- related programs and communicating effectively.

The Students Will Be Expected To:

• recognize the need to establish working relationships with various community-based groups to help them improve services to their clientele.
• understand the necessity of conducting a community analysis in order to continuously monitor the information needs of their clientele.
• learn the role of formally constituted networks of information-based agencies in meeting the information needs for the communication process and develop the requisite skills for professional interactions with users, colleagues, administrators and support personnel in a culturally diverse and dynamic society.
• communicate effectively orally and in writing.
