Research & Professional Interests

My research and professional interests center around the evolving nature of emerging technologies, especially digitization, and the challenges and opportunities presented by the use of digitally-based information technologies in libraries, museums, other cultural institutions and the society at large. Other areas of interest include scholarly and scientific communication, particularly across disciplinary boundaries, health informatics, and the process of change in science. I also am interested in effective instructional techniques in the use of educational technology, and hands-on approaches to learning.
