Instructors
Professor Sachiko Clayton (adjunct)
Prof. Clayton is a librarian at the Humanities and Social Sciences Library of the New York Public Library. She holds a BA in linguistics from SUNY Stony Brook and an MLS from Queens College. Prior to teaching LIB100, Ms. Clayton taught English to speakers of other languages.
Professor Betsy Crenshaw (adjunct)
Prof. Crenshaw is the Health Sciences Librarian at Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus Library. She has taught Library 100 previously at Queens College and many specialized library instruction sessions at LIU, Queens and Hunter. She serves as the co-convenor of METRO's Bibliographic Instruction Special Interest Group. In addition, she has developed and delivered training as a consultant to New York Public Library. She holds a BS (Radio-Television-Film) and a MLIS (Library and Information Science), both from the University of Texas at Austin.
Professor Alexandra de Luise
Prof. de Luise is an Associate Professor, Coordinator of Instructional Services and Bibliographer for Italian, French and Modern Greek. She is also Curator of the Queens College Art Center, a gallery located on the 6th floor of the Library and Bibliographer for Architecture. She holds a BA in Art History from New York University, and an MA and MLS from Rutgers University (in Art History and Library Science respectively). Professor de Luise has taught the Library 150 course, a two credit course in Library research, and the Library 100 course several times since Spring 2001.
Professor Lisa Flanzraich
Prof. Flanzraich is a Higher Education Assistant at Queens College. She has taught library skills for the basic English 110 courses, as well as specialized library instruction for literature, journalism, and media studies. She has been a Media and Reference Librarian at Rosenthal Library since 1995. Prior to that date, she was the Film Librarian at the former Center for Instructional Media Support, now Office of Information Technology. She holds a M.L.S., M.A. in Urban Studies, both from Queens College. She is currently pursuing an M.A. in English Literature.
Professor Subash Gandhi
Prof. Gandhi is an Associate Professor & Science Librarian at Queens College. He holds a Master's degree in Library & Information Science and also a M.Sc. degree in Geology from the University of Western Ontario (Canada). He has extensive and diverse teaching experience from several university libraries. As an instructor for this course, he has developed an ideal course outline and hands-on exercises for potential students from all disciplines and backgrounds. He is confident that after completing this course, the students will be:
- Self-reliant in searching CUNY+ (the computerized catalog of CUNY libraries);
- Able to search other electronic databases;
- Knowledgeable in basic techniques of Internet searching, including search engines;
- Able to use advanced research skills to compete their class assignments and research projects.
Professor Galina Letnikova (adjunct)
Prof. Letnikova is an Assistant Professor and Internet Librarian at the Lehman College's Leonard Lief Library. She holds MA degree in Education from Moscow State Linguistic University and MLS from Queens College. Since 2002 she has been teaching Library Instruction classes at Lehman College, created various handouts and exercises for the basic English 110 classes, Music classes and specialized Literature classes. Her research interests embrace usability study of the academic library Web site in its relation to the assessment of the users' Information Literacy skills.
Professor Diane Lipken (adjunct)
Prof. Lipken has worked as an adjunct librarian at Brooklyn College and Lehman College. She received her M.L.S. from Queens College, her M.A. from Rutgers University, and her Ed.M in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education/Counseling from Teachers College. She also worked for many years in college student services, including counseling disadvantaged students at a community college.
Professor James T. Mellone
Prof. Mellone is an Assistant Professor and Social Sciences Librarian at Queens College. He joined the library faculty in May 2000 and has a BA from St. Joseph's College, an MA (History) from SUNY Binghamton, and a MLS from SUNY Albany. Professor Mellone has worked at Hofstra University as Reference and Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery Librarian and Head of Interlibrary Loan at SUNY Binghamton. His research interests include modern European and Italian history. Professor Mellone teaches Library 100, and LIB 150 (Social Sciences).
Professor Michael J. Miller
Prof. Miller is an Assistant Professor and Coordinator for Access Services at Queens College. He joined the library faculty in August 2004 and has a BA from Penn State—Erie, a MS (Educational Technology) from Lehigh University, and a MLS from Rutgers University. Professor Miller has worked at Lehigh University, Columbia University, and Brooklyn Public Library as a reference specialist. His research interests include Library Science education. Professor Miller will teach the Library 100 course and continues to teach graduate Library Sciences courses for topics in Digital Libraries and also technology infusion in libraries for the both the QC and Pratt Graduate Schools of Library and Information Science.
Professor Manuel Sanudo
Prof. Sanudo is an Assistant Professor and Reference Librarian at Queens College. He holds an MLS degree from Pratt Institute and an MA degree in Spanish Literature from New York University. He is the current coordinator of the Reference Department in the Rosenthal Library and is also teaching in the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies. Before coming to Queens college in 1985, he was a librarian/instructor at the College of New Rochelle and the New York Bilingual Institute.
Professor Lois Schneider
Prof. Schneider is an Adjunct Associate Professor. She has been retired from the Queens College Library since 1995. During the thirty-four years she served in the Library prior to retirement Professor Schneider served as Education Librarian, Coordinator of Instructional Services, Acting Chief Librarian, and Coordinator of Information Services. She holds a BA in History, and MLS and an MS in Education all from Queens College. She has taught the Library credit course several times.
Professor Simone Yearwood
Prof. Yearwood is an adjunct instructor and the Assistant Coordinator for Access Services at Queens College. She joined the library staff in April 1997, holds a BA in Sociology, and MLS from Queens College. She is currently pursuing a second Masters in Urban Studies.
Professor Jeffrey Zahn
Prof. Zahn is an adjunct instructor at Queens College as well as the Librarian in charge of the Townsend Harris High School Library. He has taught humanities, writing and ESL courses at Hostos Community College, Lehman College and Bronx Community College. He holds a BA and MA in English from City College, NY, an MA in TESOL from Hunter College, CUNY, and has an MLS from Queens College, CUNY.
