PSYCHOLOGY 101 - GENERAL PSYCHOLOGY

  • 4 hr. 4 credits
  • No prerequisites

An introduction to the chief facts, principles, methods and theories of psychology. Topics discussed include the history of psychology, sensory and perceptual processes, motivation and emotion, behavior development, learning and cognition, psychometrics, personality, psychopathology, and social behavior. Not open to students who have taken Psychology 102. This course requires a research experience. The experience consisting of participation in research studies or short written reports of published psychological research. (This course may be counted toward the LASAR Physical and Biological Sciences, Group B requirement)

The Psychology 101 prerequisite for all Psychology courses may also be satisfied by:

  • a grade of 55 or higher on the CLEP Psychology Examination or
  • a score of 4 or 5 on the Advanced Placement Psychology Examination
