Psychology 334: Development of Perception and Cognition
- 3 hours, 3 credits
- Prerequisites: Psychology 214, 224 or 229
- Recommended for juniors and seniors only
A critical analysis of the physiological and psychological mechanisms underlying
the development of sensory, perceptual, and cognitive functions from the time
of conception to adulthood. The role of biological and experiential factors
in determining the nature and level of perceptual-cognitive organization is
emphasized. Current theories of development are reviewed and their social
and educational implications discussed .
