Knights hurlers surrendered just three runs on the day but received no support from their offense in losing 2-0 and 1-0 in Connecticut on Saturday. The Knights could only muster three singles on the day.
New Haven would score the only run they would need in the first inning of the opener when Mike Mores knocked in Jimmy Rivas with two outs. The home team added an insurance run in the seventh off of hard luck loser William Marte, who gave up two runs and six hits in seven innings of work. UNH's Matt Somo struck out 10 in seven innings while surrendering just two hits, singles to Sean Sciretta and Carlos Suarez, in picking up the victory.
Dan Blake limited the Knights to one base runner - a Luis Rojas single - in a complete game 1-0 win for UNH in the nightcap. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the sixth when Nick Sperounis doubled and Nick Garrido singled him home with two outs for the game's only run. Brian Friedman pitched well for QC, going six and yielding seven hits, but was tagged with the loss.

Queens College rallied twice late in the game to tie Mercy College, 6-6, in 10 innings on Friday afternoon. Catcher Jared Stoler went four for five with a homer and two RBI's for the Knights in a home game played on Mercy's field in Dobbs Ferry, New York.
Luis Rojas hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game up for the Knights at 5 apiece. Julian Tosada hit a sac fly give Mercy back the lead in the top of the ninth but QC rallied to knot the game in the bottom half of the inning. Jovan Santos and Joe Pento started the rally with consecutive singles. Santos advanced to third on a fly out to left by Mike Sporton, then scored on a single by Justin McKay to even the score at 6.
Jamie Quinn had three hits while McKay and Rojas each had a hit and a RBI for the Knights.

The Knights dropped a heartbreaker to Adelphi University, 6-5, in 13 innings on Sunday in Garden City, New York. Justin McKay and Luis Rojas each had three hits, including dramatic solo home runs in the ninth inning, for Queens College in this East Coast Conference match-up.
An RBI double in the second by Rojas got QC on the board first. Later in the inning, Ed Hackimer drove home Rojas with a sac fly and Jared Stoler scored on a Jamie Quinn hit to increase the Knights lead to 3-0. AU answered with single runs in the third, fourth, sixth and eighth to pull ahead of QC, 4-3.
With three outs between them and a bitter defeat, QC struck quickly and decisively when McKay led off the ninth with a home run to tie the game and Rojas immediately followed with a solo blast of his own to put the Knights up by a run. But a win wasn't in the cards as Knights ace Brian Honeyman yielded a one out home run to AU's Chris Weidlein that sent the game into extra innings. Adelphi eventually pushed across an unearned run in the bottom of the 13th to win the game, 6-5.

Brian Honeyman pitched the Knights to a 1-0, nightcap win over Adelphi University on Saturday afternoon in Flushing. Adelphi spoiled a Queens College rally by taking the opener, 8-4.
The Knights scored twice in the seventh inning off AU ace Bobby Lanigan to tie up game one, 4-4. After wasting a chance to go ahead in the eight, QC surrendered four runs to Adelphi in the ninth and lost, 8-4. Justin McKay had two singles and a double and Mike Sporton went two for four for the home team in the loss.
QC rode the arm of their ace to take the nightcap and salvaged a split. Honeyman pitched a three hit shutout and struck out seven in recording a 1-0 win for Queens College. Ed Hackimer walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh to push across the winning run for the Knights. With the win, Honeyman improves to 6-0 in 2008.

Jovan Santos went five for six with three runs batted in to lead Queens College to a 10-5 win at Mercy College on Wednesday afternoon in Dobbs Ferry. David Kupec picked up the win with two innings of spotless, three strike out relief while Brian Honeyman earned the save by throwing two scoreless innings with three punch outs as well.
The Knights drew first blood early by pushing across five runs in the top of the first inning. Carlos Suarez struck the big blow of the frame for QC with a two run single. After Mercy scored single runs in both the bottom of the first and the bottom of the second, Jamie Quinn picked up an RBI with a sacrifice fly to put Queens College up 6-2 after four. Mercy made it a game by scoring three times in the fifth to pull within a run but QC scored two in the sixth and two in the ninth to record a 10-5 victory.
Justin McKay also had a hit and two RBI's for the Knights, who improved to 10-20 overall and 8-12 in ECC play.

Brian Honeyman improved to 5-0 with a complete game, 5-2 victory in game two of a doubleheader split with Molloy College on Saturday in Flushing. Molloy pulled away late in winning game one, 13-5.
The visitors from Rockville Centre scored one in the first and two in the second to open up a 3-0 lead in the opening game of the double dip. Carols Suarez' two RBI double highlighted a three run Knights' second that knotted the game at three apiece. Run scoring singles by Sean Sciretta and Jovan Santos in the fourth put QC up, 5-3, but Molloy tallied three times in the fifth to retake the lead. Three more runs in the eighth and four unearned runs in the ninth gave Molloy College at 13-5 win. Suarez, Sciretta, Santos and Joe Pento all had two hits for the Knights in the loss.
QC scored four in the third to give Brian Honeyman all of the offense he would need in a 5-2 win in the nightcap. Santos singled Ed Hackimer in with the first run and Justin Mckay singled in Santos to make it 2-0. Mike Sporton then ended the outburst with a two run home run. Honeyman went the distance, striking out six while giving up seven hits to improve to 5-0 in 2008.

The Knights tried to rally but couldn't overcome a 3-0, first inning deficit in a 4-2 loss to Molloy College on Friday in Rockville Centre, NY. QC is now 1-5 in games decided by one run.
The Knights had an immediate answer for Molloy's first inning rally when Jovan Santos singled to open the second inning. Two outs later, Carlos Suarez made it a one run game by slamming a two run homer for the Knights. Molloy added an insurance run in the seventh but QC got that run right back in the eighth when Jamie Quinn singled in Denny Gonzalez to make the score MC 4, QC 3. The Knights put the tying and winning runners on second and third with two outs in the ninth but those runners were stranded there.
Starter Brian Friedman recovered from a shaky three run first inning to pitch five scoreless innings, striking out five. Mike Sporton, Quinn and Santos all had two hits on the day for QC.

Jamie Quinn and Jovan Santos each had three hits but Mercy College nipped the Knights, 8-7, in Dobbs Ferry, New York on Tuesday afternoon. The Knights wasted a game tying eighth inning rally in dropping this East Coast Conference match-up.
Jared Stoler's RBI single scored Mike Sporton with the first of three runs in that eighth inning for QC but the big hit came off of the bat of Noel Gerena. His pinch hit single scored Santos and Joe Pento to cap the rally and pull QC even with Mercy, 6-6. That deadlock didn't last long as the Flyers scored two runs with two out in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead. The Knights had a chance to tie after Santos drove in McKay with two out but Pento, who had avdanced to second on the play, was stranded there.
Shortstop Ed Hackimer also had two hits, a run scored and an RBI for QC.

Queens College pounded out 25 hits in a doubleheader split at the University of Bridgeport on Saturday afternoon. The Knights salvaged the split by winning the nightcap, 11-1 after dropping game one, 7-3.
Bridgeport beat QC, 7-3 by breaking open a close game with four runs in the eighth in the opener. The Knights outhit UB 13 to 11 in absorbing the conference loss. Jamie Quinn led the hit parade with four hits and two RBI's while Ed Hackimer was three for four and Luis Rojas had two hits and two RBI's.
Brian Honeyman improved to 4-0 with a 1.03 ERA by pitching the Knights to an 11-1 win in game two. Honeyman limited UB to three hits and struck out six over seven innings of work. QC took the lead for good in the second frame on a two RBI double by Carlos Suarez, who had three hits in the game. Tom Pento also had a big game at the plate with two doubles and four RBI's and Mike Sporton added three hits and three RBI's for the Knights.

Mike Sporton was two for four with an RBI but the Knights lost to the University of Bridgeport, 7-2, in Flushing on Friday afternoon. The two squads are scheduled to complete their series tomorrow in Bridgeport with a doubleheader.
Jamie Quinn drove in the other QC run and was one for four on the day.

The Knights sent nine men to the plate in a five run sixth en route to a 7-2, non-conference win at Briarcliffe College on Thursday. The win earned QC a split of the four game season series with Briarcliffe.
Pete Kirby pitched seven innings of six hit ball while surrendering one earned run in picking up the victory. Russel Furey mopped up with two scoreless innings in relief for QC. At the plate, Carlos Suarez went two for four with an RBI and Noel Gerena had a hit and two RBI.

C.W. Post beat the Knights, 10-1, in Flushing on Wednesday afternoon. The win enabled Post to take the season series, two games to one.
The Knights scored first in this affair when Mike Sporton singled in Jamie Quinn in the bottom of the first. Post quickly answered with runs in the second and third and two in the fourth to take control. Justin McKay went two for four for QC in the loss.

Brian Honeyman pitched a complete game four hitter in the nightcap to give the Knights a 4-2 win and a split of their doubleheader against St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday afternoon in Flushing. STAC won a slugfest in game one, 17-10.
STAC opened up a 7-1 lead after an inning and a half in the opener but QC scored five in the sixth to pull within three, 12-9. That's as close as they would get despite pounding out 14 hits, four off of the bat of Jovan Santos. Jared Stoler also had a big game at the plate with three hits - two of them doubles - and three RBI's for QC.
In the second game of the afternoon STAC pushed across two unearned runs in the top of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead. The Knights responded with three in their half of the inning when Stoler doubled in Santos to tie the game and Denny Gonzalez singled in Stoler to put QC ahead for good. Ed Hackimer also scored on the play on an error by the centerfielder.
Honeyman improved to 3-0 and lowered his ERA to 0.96 with the complete game, 10 strike out performance while Justin McKay was three for three with an RBI for the Knights.

Briarcliffe College scored three in the eighth and one in the ninth to upend the Knights, 7-5, in Flushing on Thursday in non-conference action. Ed Hackimer and Jamie Quinn each had a hit and two RBIs in three at bats for QC.
Hackimer doubled in Joe Pento and Jovan Santos in the fourth to put the Knights ahead, 3-1. Quinn then singled in Hackimer with the third run of the inning for QC. Sean Sciretta's sac fly in the sixth scored Jared Stoler with an insurance run that put QC up by two, 5-3. The Knights bullpen couldn't hold the lead, surrendering three in the eighth and one in the ninth in a 7-5 loss.
Santos finished with two hits in four at bats while starter Pete Kirby gave up three hits and two earned runs in five innings of work for QC.

Mike Sporton led a 15 hit Knight attack in a 4-2 East Coast Conference win at C.W. Post College on Wednesday afternoon. Sporton went four for four with a double and two runs scored in the win.
In the top of the fourth, Sporton scored on an error by the shortstop to tie the game at one. In the very next inning Tom Pento singled to left, scoring Sporton and Justin McKay to put QC ahead, 3-1. Luis Rojas followed with a single, scoring Pento, who had advanced to third on an error by the rightfielder.
Brian Friedman pitched seven innings to pick up the victory for the Knights. Arik Abrams followed him by throwing a scoreless eighth and Brian Honeyman retired all three batters he faced in the ninth to pick up his second save of the season.
Aside from Sporton, four other Knights had multi-hit games to help QC even their ECC record at 4-4. Rojas was three for five with an RBI, Pento had two hits and two RBI's while Denny Gonzalez and McKay were both two for five.

The Knights dropped the rubber game of their weekend series with Concordia College, 8-2, in Flushing on Sunday afternoon. Concordia had taken the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday 5-2 and QC had ridden the arm of Brian Honeyman to a 3-0 victory in the nightcap.
Tom Pento singled in Denny Gonzalez with the first run of the game in the first inning for the Knights. In the second, Gonzalez singled in Ed Hackimer to put QC ahead, 2-0. That would be all the scoring that the home team would do as Concordia scored eight unanswered runs, starting with two in the third to tie the game at two apiece. Concordia took a 3-2 lead with one in the fourth and added two insurance runs in the sixth and three more in the ninth to round out the scoring.
Mike Sporton and Hackimer each had two hits in three at bats and Pento went two for four with an RBI on the day for QC.

Brian Honeyman pitched a four hit shutout in a 3-0 Knights win in the nightcap of a double dip at Concordia College on Saturday afternoon. Honeyman also struck out 10 and only walked one in improving to 2-0 in 2008. Concordia defeated QC 5-2 in the first game of the day.
In game one, Concordia opened up a 5-0 lead with two in the third inning and three in the fourth. The Knights got a run in the fifth on an RBI single from Denny Gonzalez and another run in the ninth on an RBI single by Jared Stoler. Arik Abrams surrendered just one hit in four innings in relief in the 5-2 loss.
The Knights gave Honeyman all of the offensive support he needed with two runs in the second. Jason Espinal singled in Jovan Santos with the first run and Jamie Quinn's single knocked in Noel Gerena, Jr. with the second run of the inning. The Knights provided Honeyman with more insurance in the fifth when Mike Sporton scored on an RBI single by Luis Rojas.

C.W. Post defeated Queens College, 5-4, in 10 innings on Wednesday afternoon in Greenvale, New York. The loss was the Knights third consecutive defeat by one run.
Jamie Quinn led off the game with a double, kick starting a rally which resulted in two unearned runs for the Knights. Post scored three in the third and one in the fourth to go up, 4-2, a lead they would hold until the eighth when QC would score twice to tie. Both runs came on bases loaded walks, the first drawn by Noel Gerena and the second by Ed Hackimer. Post won the game in the tenth on a two out double by Steve Algarroba.
Quinn, Tom Pento and Justin McKay each had two hits for the Knights in a losing effort.

Luis Rojas had three hits and 3 RBI and Noel Gerena added three hits and two RBI to lead a 10 hit Knights' attack in a 9-8 loss to Felician College on Tuesday in Flushing. QC could not hold the 7-2 lead that they had built after four innings.
Run scoring singles from Tom Pento and Rojas tied the game at two after one inning of play. Rojas and Gerena each drove in a run in a three run second to put the Knights ahead, 5-2. In the third, two more RBI hits from Rojas and Gerena expanded QC's lead to five but Felician scored three times in the fifth and three times in the sixth to go ahead 8-7. The two teams exchanged runs in the seventh to round out the scoring.

The Knights were denied a series sweep by Dowling College in a 4-3 loss on Long Island on Monday afternoon. Tom Pento was three for four with an RBI for QC in the loss. The Knights had won the first two games of the three game set, 4-2 and 2-1, on Saturday in Flushing.
Dowling took an early lead with a run in the third but the Knights responded by taking the lead back with two in the fourth when Mike Sporton doubled in a run and later scored on a single by Pento. DC got both runs back in their half of the inning on a two run triple off of the bat of Dan Pembrooke. QC had an answer in the top of the fifth when Justin McKey, who was two for five on the day, scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at three. Dowling came right back in the bottom of the fifth to score what proved to be the game winning run on a two out double by Dave Wendt. The Knights did not go quietly, getting the tying run in scoring position in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings but they falled to push it across.

Knights hurler Brian Honeyman picked up the save in the first game and was the winner in the nightcap as Queens College swept Dowling College, 4-2 and 2-1, in a doubleheader on Saturday in Flushing. The wins give QC a 2-0 start to their 2008 East Coast Conference slate.
In the opener, Dowling touched starter William Marte for two in the fifth to break a scoreless tie. Mike Sporton got one back for the Knights with a solo homer in the sixth and, in the eighth, scored the go-ahead run on a suicide squeeze by Jared Stoler in the middle of a three run QC rally. Honeyman then pitched a one, two, three ninth to seal a 4-2, come from behind win for the home team.
In a repeat of the opener, Dowling scored first when a walk and a triple gave them a 1-0 lead in the fourth. The Knights tied the game in their half of the inning on a solo home run off of the bat of Jovan Santos. The game remained that way until the bottom of the seventh when a one out double by Denny Gonzalez plated Jamie Quinn with the game winning run for QC. Honeyman picked up the complete game victory, scattering four hits and striking out seven in seven innings of work.

The Knights lost at Briarcliffe College, 2-0, on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference tilt. QC had rallied to beat Briarcliffe, 10-8, in their previous meeting 23 days ago in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Eight pitchers threw an inning each for QC, surrendering just two unearned runs. However, Knights batsmen could only muster four hits in a shutout loss.

William Marte fanned eight Caldwell batters in six and a third innings but was tagged with a 4-1 loss on Wednesday in Flushing. Caldwell broke a 1-1 deadlock with 2 runs in the seventh to record the victory.
Mike Sporton singled in Jamie Quinn, who struck out but reached on an error on the catcher, to put QC up 1-0 after an inning of play. Two walks, a single and a sacrifice fly in the third enabled Caldwell to tie the game at one apiece. The game remained even until the visitors pushed across two runs with two men out in the top of the seventh before adding an insurance run in the eighth with another two out hit.
Sporton, Quinn and Jovan Santos, who each had a single, accounted for the all of the Knights offense on the day.

The Knights rallied in the seventh inning to beat Briarcliffe College, 10-8, at the Cal Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Sunday morning. QC had been beaten by Caldwell College, 7-1, on Saturday afternoon.
Things didn't look good for Queens College when they fell behind 7-1 after three innings. Six runs in the seventh changed that, putting the Knights up a run, 9-8. A solo home run by Carlos Suarez, who went two for three, provided insurance as QC went on to record their first win of 2008, 10-8.
Jovan Santos had another good game for the Knights at the plate with three hits and three RBI while Tom Mercantante was two for two in his debut for QC.

It was a dreary beginning to 2008 in cold and rainy Myrtle Beach as the Knights dropped their first two games of the season on Friday. First, Felician College beat QC 9-4 in a 10:00 am start. Bloomfield then made it 0 for 2 for the Knights on the day by defeating them, 6-3.
The Knights surrendered two runs to Felician in the top half of the first but responded by plating three to take a one run lead. Felician came back with two more in the second off of starter and loser William Marte but QC answered again with a run in the bottom of the inning to knot the score at four. The score remained that way until the fifth when a sacrifice fly by Felician's Anthony Balmos snapped the tie, giving his team the lead for good. Felician tacked on two in the seventh and single runs in the eighth and ninth off of the Knights bullpen to wrap up the victory. Jovan Santos was two for four with a run scored, Mike Sporton had two hits and an RBI and Jamie Quinn was two for four with a double in the loss.
Santos added a hit and an RBI Jamie Quinn went two for four with a run scored as the Knights fell to Bloomfield later in the day.

The Knights ended their 2007 campaign on a sour note in losing to Mercy College, 9-2, in Dobbs Ferry, New York on Sunday afternoon. Mercy scored six runs in the sixth to break open a tight game and open up a 7-0 lead.
John Palladino gave up five hits and one earned run over five strong innings to keep the Knights close. Maurice Santana was three for five, Yi-Chang Chaing added two hits in four at bats and Mike Sporton drove in QC's only two runs in the loss.

Dan Weinman won game one and Bob Standish picked up the win in the nightcap as the Knights defeated Mercy College, 7-3 and 5-2 in Flushing on Saturday. The Knights wrap up the 2007 season with a single game tomorrow at Mercy College.
Weinman surrendered five hits and no earned runs over eight innings of work in earning the 7-3 victory in the opener. After Mercy scored an unearned run in the top of the first, Mike Sporton singled in Maurice Santana and later scored, along with Yi-Chang Chaing, on an error to give Queens a 3-1 lead after an inning of play. A Jeffrie Villacres double in the fifth gave Queens three more insurance runs as they went on to posting the win. Sporton had two hits in four at bats and Villacres finished with four RBI's in the game.
In the second game, Standish gave up two runs, one earned, in the first but nothing else in a 5-2 win. Standish pitched a seven inning complete game, giving up one hit and striking out seven in the process. Thomas Maser doubled in two in the third to pull QC even at two and a Santana RBI single and a Villacres double in the fifth put the Knights up for good. Santana had another RBI single in the sixth to add an insurance run in the Knights' victory.

Mike Sporton and Mike Rutcofsky each had three hits in a 11-7 Knights' loss at the hands of Concordia College on Thursday in Flushing. Sean Sciretta also knocked in three runs for Queens.
QC jumped on Concordia early with a three run second inning, highlighted by a two run Sciretta double. Concordia responded with one in the third and four in the fourth to retake the lead, 5-3. Queens then tied things up with two in their half of the fourth before Concordia went ahead for good with three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh.

John Palladino pitched eight strong innings but was saddled with a 2-0 loss to Concordia in Bronxville, New York on Tuesday. Palladino scattered eight hits and yielded two earned runs in the loss.
Concordia took an early 1-0 lead when Mike Gagliardi connected for a solo home run in the first inning. For Gagliardi, it was his 11th homer of the season. Concordia added an insurance run in the fifth on their way to the 2-0 victory. Mike Sporton, Jamie Quinn and Corey Caeti accounted for the Knights' three hits on the day.

The Knights wasted a fine effort from starting pitcher Jeffrie Villacres by giving up six runs in the ninth in a 8-4 loss to Bridgeport on Monday in Flushing. Villacres gave up two runs and eight hits in seven and a third innings of work and left with a 4-2 lead.
Sean Sciretta got the Knights on the board in the second with an RBI triple. Thomas Maser then knocked Sciretta in with a single to put QC ahead, 2-0. Queens added to their lead in the third when Yi-Chang Chaing singled in Maurice Santana and Mike Sporton scored on a sac fly by Sciretta to make the score Queens 4, Bridgeport 0. UB cut into the Knights' lead with two runs in the sixth then won the game with six in the ninth.
Sciretta had two hits and two RBI in three official at bats and Maser was two for four for Queens in the loss.

Bridgeport pushed across the winning run in the ninth inning of both the opener and the nightcap in sweeping a pair from the Knights, 7-6 and 3-2. For Queens, the losses were the second and third straight by one run.
Queens scored two in the fourth and four in the sixth to open up a 6-3 lead in game one in Bridgeport. The key hit in the four run sixth was a two RBI double off of the bat of Sean Sciretta. UB responded with three in their half of the seventh to tie the game and pushed across the winner two innings later with two outs. Yi-Chang Chaing was two for four for Queens in the loss.
Mike Rutcofsky scored on a Mike Hennessy fielder's choice in the third inning of the nightcap to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. UB tied it up in the bottom of the inning and it stayed tied until QC took a 2-1 lead when Jared Stoler scored on a Mike Sporton sacrifice fly in the sixth. Once again, UB came right back to tie the game with a run in their half of the inning and mounted a two out, nobody on, rally in the ninth to score the game wiining run.

Concordia College scored an unearned run in the seventh to upend the Knights, 5-4, in Flushing on Wednesday afternoon. Next up for Queens is a three game series this weekend with the University of Bridgeport.
QC scored three runs in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Sean Sciretta and a two run single from Kurt Doerbecker to tie the game at 4-4. The game remained tied until the seventh when Concordia pushed across the winning run. Sciretta finished the game with two hits as did teammates Yi-Chang Chaing, Mike Sporton and Thomas Maser.

The Knights were beaten by St. Thomas Aquinas College, 14-2, in Flushing on Sunday. STAC scored three in the first and five in the second to take command of the game.
Maurice Santana was two for four for QC in the loss. Yi-Chang Chaing and Jeffrie Villacres each had an RBI for the Knights.

St. Thomas Aquinas College came from behind in both games in sweeping a doubleheader from the Knights, 9-8 and 5-3, on Saturday afternoon. Both games were played in Flushing but STAC was considered the home team.
A Thomas Maser two run single highlighted a four run first inning for Queens in the opener. Yi- Chang Chaing, who went three for five, led off the fifth with his first home run of 2007 and QC tacked on two more to open up a 8-3 lead. STAC closed to 8-7 with two in the fifth and two in the sixth before Javier Diaz hit a one out, two run home run in the ninth to give his team a 9-8 victory. Mike Sporton went three for four with an RBI, while Maser and Maurice Santana each had two hits for Queens.
In the nightcap, Sporton hit his third homer of the season, a three run job, to stake Queens to a 3-1 lead in the fourth. STAC wiped out that lead with three of their own in the fifth en route to a 5-3 win.

Jeffrie Villacres provided the pitching and Jared Stoler provided some of the offense as the Knights defeated Dowling College, 7-5, on Friday in Holbrook, New York. Dowling had won the previous meeting between the two clubs, 17-13 and 19-6.
Queens scored single runs in the first, third and fifth and two runs in the second and fourth to build a 7-0 lead after four and a half. Stoler went two for two with a home run and two RBI while Villacres surrendered just two earned runs in 8 2/3 innings of work to pick up the win. Arik Abrams picked up the save with a game ending strike out.

A late rally Knights came up short in their 12-10 loss at C.W. Post College on Thursday afternoon. Queens scored one run in the seventh, another in the eighth and six in the ninth to pull within two of the home team.
C.W. Post pushed across five runs in the second on their way to opening up a 12-2 lead. Sean Sciretta was two for three with two RBI's while Mike Hennessy, Yi-Chang Chaing, Maurice Santana and Kurt Doerbecker also had two hits each for Queens in the loss.

Righthander Daniel Weinman was named East Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance over the last seven days. The senior made two appearances, one as a starter and the other in relief, and posted a 1-0 record with a spotless 0.00 earned run average.
The highlight of Weinman's week came in the opener of a doubleheader versus C.W. Post when he spun a nine inning, complete game gem in which he struck out eight while surrendering just five hits and an unearned run in a 7-1 Knights' win. He also pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief against Adelphi in which he gave up one hit and struck out two.

The Knights rode the arm of Daniel Weinman and the bat of Jeffrie Villacres to a 7-1, game one win over C.W. Post on Saturday afternoon in Flushing. Post rebounded to win the second game of the doubleheader, 18-0.
Weinman pitched a nine inning, complete game to pick up the win in the opener. He was not touched for an earned run while giving up only five hits and striking out eight in the process. Villacres was the hitting star, going two for four with two homers and four RBI's for the Knights. His two run blast in the fourth inning gave QC a 2-1 lead.
Villacres and Yi-Chang Chaing each were two for three but their teammates could only muster three more hits between them in an 18-0 loss in the nightcap.

Adelphi University defeated Queens College, 14-7, on Wednesday in an ECC contest played in Flushing. With the win, AU sweeps the 2007 season series.
Adelphi jumped out to an early 5-0 lead but Thomas Maser singled in Maurice Santana and Jared Stoler to help Queens close to 5-2 in the fourth. That's as close as the Knights would get as Adelphi pushed across five in the fifth to open up a 10-2 lead.
Stoler and Maser each drove in two runs and Corey Caeti was two for four with a run scored and an RBI in the loss for Queens.

The Knights lost at Briarcliffe College, 16-7, on Tuesday afternoon. Queens had beaten BC, 5-3, in their 2007 season opener in Myrtle Beach on February 23rd.
Queens rallied to take a 6-5 lead with four runs in the top of the third. They had trailed 4-0 after one inning of play but RBI's from Mike Sporton and Sean Sciretta highlighted their third inning rally to take a short lived lead. Briarcliffe tied the game with a run in their half of the third and scored a run in the fifth and four more in the sixth to take the lead for good.
Sporton was the offensive star for the Knights with a double, a homer and two RBI in three official at bats. Maurice Santana also had two hits and Sciretta had two RBI for QC in a non-conference loss.

Dowling used a big seventh inning rally to take the second game of a three game series with Queens, 19-6, in Flushing on Monday. Dowling beat Queens on Saturday in the first game of the series.
Third inning RBI's from Maurice Santana and Mike Hennessy helped the Knights rally from an early 1-0 deficit to take a 3-1 lead. They led 4-2 before Dowling sent 18 batters to the plate in a 13 run seventh inning to blow the game open.
Hennessy finished with two hits, including a home run, and two RBI's in five at bats while Yi-Chang Chaing added two hits and an RBI in four at bats for QC in the loss.

Adelphi scored four runs in the second and three in the third on their way to a 12-5 victory over the Knights on Tuesday in Garden City. With the loss, QC's record drops to 3-12 overall and 1-7 in ECC play.
Yi-Chang Chaing was two for five with two RBI's and Maurice Santana had two hits and an RBI to lead the Knights offense. Brian Friedman struck out five in three spotless innings of work in relief for Queens, who are off until Friday when they begin a three game series against Dowling with a single game in Flushing.

The University of New Haven defeated Queens College, 7-2, on Sunday in Connecticut to take the rubber match of the three game series. The two teams had split a doubleheader played at Queens yesterday.
UNH jumped on the Knights early by pushing across three runs in their half of the first. The home team added two more in the fifth before a walk to Mike Hennessy, a single by Maurice Santana and two UNH errors helped QC score two unearned runs in the top of the sixth to make the score 5-2. New Haven answered with two runs of their own in their half of the inning on the way to a 7-2 win.

Bob Standish surrendered just one unearned run on four hits in hurling a complete game, 9-1 win over the University of New Haven in the second game of a doubleheader played in Flushing on Saturday. New Haven took the first game, 11-4.
Mike Hennessy hit a two run homer for QC in the opener and had a hit and an RBI in the nightcap. Yi-Chang Chaing added a hit and 2 RBI to help the Knights to their first ECC victory of 2007.

The Knights lost to Felician College, 12-10 on Thursday afternoon in a non-conference contest played in Flushing. This was the second meeting of the season between the two teams. Felician handed Queens their first loss of 2007 by the same score back on February 24th in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Freshman Corey Caeti recorded his first collegiate hit and first two RBI's in the loss. Queens scored seven of their runs in the ninth inning.

Adelphi University defeated Queens College, 9-0, in Garden City on Wednesday afternoon, For Queens it was their seventh consecutive defeat.
Sean Sciretta and Mike Hennessy each had two hits for the Knights in the loss. Kevin Salguero pitched two perfect innings for QC, striking out two in the process.

Queens suffered two one run losses in dropping a doubleheader to Molloy College in Rockville Centre, New York on Sunday afternoon. QC lost game one 7-6 and game two 3-2.
The Knights got off to a great start by plating three in the first inning of the opener with the big hit coming from Mike Williams in the form of a two RBI double. Molloy responded with one in the first, two in the second and one in the third to retake the lead but QC put up three more runs in the fifth to take a 6-4 lead. MC closed to within one run on an Ian Morales homer in the sixth and won it on a two run long ball from Drew Adler in the sixth.
In the nightcap, Jared Stoler singled in Mike Sporton and Sean Sciretta to give the Knights a 2-1 lead in the second. Molloy pushed across the tying run in the fourth and, with one out in the seventh, Adler singled with the bases loaded to make QC's Brian Honeyman the hard luck loser.

Moloy College defeated the Knights 18-7 in ten innings in Flushing on Saturday afternoon. Queens had rallied for four runs in the ninth to tie their 2007 East Coast Conference season opener.
Jared Stoler's run scoring ground out pulled the Knights to within three runs in their last at bat. Mike Williams then added an RBI single and Mike Sporton followed with a two RBI double to tie the game at seven. Molloy then exploded for 11 in the tenth on their way to a 18-7 win. Sporton went three for five with two RBI while Maurice Santana, Sean Sciretta and Mike Hennessy had two hits each for QC in a losing effort.

The Knights returned to action after a 13 day layoff and lost a pair to Franklin Pierce College on Saturday afternoon at Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, New York. Queens was shut out, 11-0, in the first game and lost game two 4-2.
Andrew Pfeffer and Michael Hennessy provided the Knights offense with solo homers in the second game. Brian Honeyman pitched a complete game and was saddled with the loss.

Maurice Santana went five for nine with three home runs and eight RBIs as Queens split a pair of games with Bloomfield and Felician in Myrtle Beach on Saturday. Queens defeated Bloomfield in the first game, 4-2, but dropped game two, 11-10, to Felician.
Santana was three for four with a homer and three RBIs while Andrew Pfeffer had three hits and an RBI in the opener. Brian Honeyman scattered three hits over six innings to pick up the win for the Knights.
Queens led 9-8 in the eighth in game two but lost, 11-10, to Felician College. Santana was two for five with two homers and five more RBIs and Michael Hennessy went three for four with an RBI in QC's first loss of the young season.

Kurt Doerbecker had three hits in his collegiate debut as Queens opened the 2007 season with a 5-3 win over Briarcliffe College on Friday in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Tommy Maser also went 2 for 4 with an RBI and Maurice Santana drove in two runs in the win.
Bob Standish struck out six in six innings of work to pick up the win for QC. Dan Weinman closed out the game for the Knights and picked up the save in the process.

Junior infielder Maurice Santana went two for three to raise his batting average to an even .400 in a 17-4 Knights' loss to New Haven on Wednesday in Flushing.
Queens had led 4-0 after three innings but UNH tied the game with four runs in the fourth before adding six more in the sixth. Yi-Chang Chaing hit a solo home run for Queens, his first of the season.

Maurice Santana and Jarod Stoler each drove in three runs in a 21-7 loss to Dowling College in Flushing on Monday afternoon. Santana had three hits, including a double, in five at bats while Stoler went two for four with a home run.

The Knights were undone once again by a big inning as they lost to Adelphi 12-5 in Garden City on Monday. This time it was a six run fourth inning that did the damage.
Yi-Chang Chaing walked and scored an unearned run in the top of the fourth inning to put QC up 3-2 but Adelphi answered with six runs on four hits in their half of the inning to take control of the game. The home team had scored two in the first to take the lead before the Knights rallied for two in the second to tie the game at 2-2.
Maurice Santana had two hits in five at bats, scored twice and stole a base for Queens in the loss.

Adelphi used a nine run seventh inning in the opener and a seven run fourth in the nightcap to sweep the Knights, 10-7 and 9-3, in Flushing on Saturday. The two teams meet again on Monday afternoon in Garden City.
Queens scored four runs in their half of the second inning and held that lead until Adelphi rallied for nine in the seventh inning en route to a 10-7 win. Robert Aronowitz went three for five while Andrew Pfeffer, Tyler Abrams and Maurice Santana each had two hits for the Knights.
Adelphi used a seven run fourth inning to erase a QC 1-0 lead and win, 9-3. Mike Hennessy went two for three, including a home run, with two RBI and Mike Williams added two hits in the loss.

The Knights lost to Bridgeport for the second time in two days, this time 12-1 in Flushing. The game completes a stretch of six games in five days for Queens.
Bridgeport took control of the game by scoring four in the first, two in the second and one more in the third. Queens responded with their only run of the game in the bottom half of the third when Mike Hennessy reached on catcher's interference, advanced to third on a Maurice Santana double, and scored when a Yi-Chang Chaing grounder to third was misplayed.

In NYCAC action in Connecticut, the University of Bridgeport defeated the Knights 13-4 on Tuesday. The two teams meet again tomorrow afternoon, this time in Flushing.
Andrew Pfeffer had two hits, including a double and an RBI, and Mike Williams also had two hits in the loss.

Three Molloy pitchers scattered six hits as they defeated the Knights 8-2 and took the rubber match of the three game series between the two NYCAC rivals. The loss drops Queens to 4-6 in conference play.
Six different Knights had hits in the game with Yi-Chang Chaing picking up a hit and an RBI in the losing effort.

The Knights settled for a doubleheader split against Molloy College on Sunday in Rockville Centre, New York. Queens rallied to win game one 6-5 but fell short in game two, 10-6.
Down 4-1 after six, QC scored three in the seventh and two in the eighth to take the lead en route to a 6-5 game one win. Maurice Santana went four for five and Bob Standish picked up the win while Dan Weinman collected his third save of the season in the opener. Standish was sailing along, surrendering just three hits over four innings before allowing four runs in the fifth to fall behind 4-1. Andrew Pfeffer bailed out the Knights with a two run double in the eighth, scoring Mike Williams and Tyler Abrams, to put his team up for good.
Molloy scored four in the seventh in rebounding in the nightcap to gain a split by defeating QC 10-6. Andrew Pfeffer had two more hits for Queens in the game two loss.

Tyler Abrams had two doubles and five RBI's and Russel Furey picked up his first win as the Knights defeated Mercy College, 15-13, in Flushing on Sunday afternoon. The win completed a weekend sweep of Mercy and was QC's third straight as well.
Queens fell behind 7-0 in the third before rallying to score five runs in the bottom of the inning to cut the deficit to two. After Mercy added a run in their half of the fourth, Queens responded with three of their own to tie the game at eight. Once again Mercy jumped ahead, this time by pushing across three in the fifth, but Queens rsponded with five, highlighted by bases loaded double by Abrams, to take the lead for good at 13-11.
Furey allowed just one hit over two innings to pick up the win for Queens. Andrew Pfeffer and Robert Aronowitz each went two for five with 2 RBI's while Michael Rutcofsky had three hits in the win.

The Knights pounded out 27 hits as they swept a doubleheader from Mercy College 8-1 and 11-4, in NYCAC action at Dobbs Ferry, New York. The wins were the team's first of the 2006 season.
Anthony Russo started the day off right for Queens by igniting a four run first inning rally with a leadoff home run. Later in the inning, Maurice Santana, who was three for four, tripled in two more runs and the Knights were on their way to a 8-1, game one win. Robert Standish went six and two thirds innings, striking out five and limiting Mercy to six hits and one run to pick up the win for QC while Michael Williams was three for four and Tyler Abrams added two hits in the win.
The Knights scored three runs in the second, third and fourth innings to ring up a 11-4 win in the nightcap. Williams had three more hits, Abrams added three hits and two RBI's and Yi-Chang Chaing knocked in three with two hits to help the Knights complete the sweep. Brian Giraldi surrendered five hits and struck out three in six innings of work to pick up his first win as a Knight.

Bridgeport rallied from four runs down to defeat the Knights, 12-11, on Wednesday in a NYCAC game in Connecticut. Queens had held a 11-7 lead in the seventh before the home team came back to record the victory.
Tyler Abrams continues to swing a hot bat, going three for four with two doubles and four RBI's for Queens. Abrams also had three hits on Sunday against St. Thomas Aquinas College. Yi-Chang Chaing added two hits and two RBI's for QC in the loss at Bridgeport. With the cancellation of Thursday game versus Dominican, the Knights will next take the field on Saturday at Mercy College.

The Knights dropped the finale of their weekend series with STAC, 10-3, on Sunday in Sparkill, New York. With the loss QC is now 0-5 and 0-3 in NYCAC play. Tyler Abrams had three hits in five at bats while Mike Rutcofsky picked up his first collegiate hit for Queens.
St. Thomas Aquinas took the first two games of the series, 13-12 and 11-4, in Flushing on Saturday. The doubleheader kicked off QC's 2006 NYCAC schedule.
The Knights staged a big comeback in the opener, scoring five runs in the eighth inning to tie the score at 12 only to surrender the game winning run in the top of the ninth. Yi-Chang Chiang was two for four with three RBI's in game one while Mike Williams went three for three and Tyler Abrams had two hits for Queens.
Jarod Stoler hit his first collegiate home run in the Knights' 11-4 nightcap loss. Maurice Santana added two hits in three at bats in defeat.

The Knights opened their 2006 season by dropping a pair to nationally ranked Franklin Pierce College, 14-1 and 20-5, in Flushing on Saturday afternoon. Andrew Pfeffer and Maurice Santana each went two for six with a home run and two RBI's in the losses. The Knights are now off for two weeks before kicking off their conference schedule at St. Thomas Aquinas College on March 25th.
