Who is eligible to apply to STC?
Anyone with a strong desire to become a licensed science teacher and having science courses in their educational background. Applicants can be QC undergraduate students prepared to major in science education (Biology, Chemistry, Geology, or Physics), transfer students or those with a bachelor's degree in science or the liberal arts. .

If I have a bachelor's or higher degree, what are my requirements to become a science teacher?
As a candidate with a B.A. or B.S., or higher, you are welcome to apply for entrance to Science Teacher Careers and need also to apply to the Queens College Graduate School in the Advanced Certificate Program of Secondary Education. For your initial science teacher certification you will need to complete 21 graduate science education credits before beginning work on your Masters degree.

You will also need to have completed a total of at least 36 credits of approved undergraduate science courses with an average grade of B or better. Thirty credits of the science courses need to be concentrated in one science area [e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Geology (Earth Science), or Physics].

Do I have to be a Queens College student to apply to STC?
No, but you need to be a QC student to begin your coursework at QC.

Must I attend full-time or can I attend part-time?
Science Teacher Careers permits, but does not require, full-time (12 credits or more per semester) attendance. To allow for your work or your family responsibilities, you may construct a part-time program (from 1 to 11 credits).

What is the deadline for submission of STC applications?
For applicants already at QC: one month before the start of the Fall or Spring semesters.
For applicants requiring admission to QC: allow four months for admission as a matriculated student. Applicants can be "express admitted" to QC,one month before the semester's start as non-matriculated students and then later, can matriculate.
