HOMECOMING 2008
Sunday, September 21st.
On Sunday, September 21, 2008, many alums from all decades happily returned to campus for our Annual Homecoming Event and participated in various alumni activities across campus.
These events included an unveiling tribute of three coaches at the Fitzgerald Gym; a softball dedication ceremony, a seminar on hurricane destruction, given by Prof. Nicholas Coch, and various campus tours. After receptions with President Musykens, some alums were taken to the Louis Armstrong House in Corona, where they were treated to tours of the House and a lovely closing reception. COMMENCEMENT REUNION CLASSES RETURN TO CAMPUS
Thursday, May 29
Over 50 members of the Class of 1958 and 20 members of the Class of 1948 returned to campus to process in the Commencement Exercises of 2008. Alums from all over the country returned to their alma mater. After an early morning breakfast, the reunion classes processed to the Quad and after the ceremony, all enjoyed lunch. A reception for more than 100 Accounting students and alumni was held in the Presidential Conference Room #1 of the Benjamin S. Rosenthal Library at Queens College.

SAN FRANCISCO ALUMNI RECEPTION
Thursday, March 27, 6-8 p.m.

The Museum of Craft and Folk Art was the scene of the exhibition, The Fabric of Cultures: Fashion, Identity, Globalization, on loan from the Queens College Godwin-Ternbach Museum. A tour of the exhibition was given by Dr. Amy Winter, Director and Curator, Godwin-Ternbach Museum. The tour was followed by a reception for over 30 alumni who live in the San Francisco area. PRE-PERFORMANCE RECEPTION BEFORE THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO
Sunday, March 16

Alumni from the decades of the 1970s joined President Jim Muyskens and other Queens College administrators and faculty for a reception before attending a student performance of The Marriage of Figaro presented by the Department of Drama, Theatre and Dance, Charles Repole, Chair, and Aaron Copland School of Music, Edward Smaldone, Director. SAN FRANCISCO ALUMNI DINNER
President Jim Muyskens and VP Sue Henderson had dinner with Queens College alums who live in the San Francisco area. Queens College Florida alumni cruised the famous Venetian Island Chain past celebrity homes such as Julio Iglesias, Gloria Estefan and Ricky Martin on the luxury yacht, Miami Magic. QUEENS COLLEGE'S 70TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
COMMEMORATION OF THE FIRST DAY OF CLASSES:
October 11, 2007
On October 11, 1937, Queens College began with its first day of classes. Seventy years later in a tent behind Jefferson Hall, 14 members of the original first graduating class returned to their alma mater. Queens' borough President Helen Marshall '72, Assemblywoman Ellen Young, Mahendra Singh-Student Association President, President James Muyskens and Arnold Franco '43 all participated in the celebration and in welcoming 14 members of the original group who started college on that momentous day. LONG ISLAND ALUMNI RECEPTION
CRADLE OF AVIATION MUSEUM:
September 26, 2007
More than 230 alums gathered at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, NY, on Wednesday, September 26th. They were treated to a dessert reception and a classical music performance by students from the Aaron Copland School of Music. The students had studied in Italy the past summer and performed the pieces that they wrote abroad. The purpose of this event was to start a LI Queens College Alumni Chapter.
