'Evviva La
Madonna Nera!'
Italian American Devotion to the Black Madonna
This exhibition explores the devotion of the
Black Madonna (la Madonna Nera) in Italy and among Italian Americans. Curated
by the Calandra Institute's Dr. Joseph Sciorra and designed by visual artist
B. Amore, the exhibit consists of three triptychs(each are 21.5" x 39.5" opened) examining the themes of:

Madonna Nera in Italy and Europe
·
La
Madonna Nera in the New World
·
La
Madonna Nera Rediscovered
Images and histories of La Madonna di Tindari, La
Madonna della Libera, and Madonna dello Sterpeto, among others, are presented
in a collage-like fashion.
This exhibit is designed to travel and is
available to community organizations such as libraries, schools, and social
clubs upon request, for the cost of shipping.
