The
Risorgimento Revisited
In the last
fifteen years the study of the Italian Risorgimento has been renewed in
significant ways. This international conference will bring together several
of the practitioners of this new research. Its aim is to make the debates on
the Risorgimento known to a broader public and to encourage the development
of new perspectives on the history of Italian nationalism and nationally
identity. By addressing the issue of how modern Italian identity was first
conceived and constructed, the conference will also invite reflection on the
issues of patriotism and nationalism in present-day Italy.
