Welcome to the Calandra Institute!

Welcome!

On April 3, 2013, as part of the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute’s “Writers Read” series, poet Robert Viscusi (Brooklyn College, CUNY) gave a reading from his latest collection, Ellis Island.

At the outset of the event, Viscusi had this to say about the Calandra Institute:

Next week, April 26-27, Calandra’s scholarly explorations continue as the Institute presents its annual conference: This year’s gathering is titled “Lingue Migranti: The Global Languages of Italy and the Diaspora.” U.S.-based and international scholars will discuss the plethora of languages and dialects that developed in Italy and were dispersed around the world as a result of political and demographic changes and periods of mass emigration.

The conference is free of charge and open to the public. For more information and a complete program of the conference proceedings, click here.
