The Wind Program
Requirements:

A private 30-, 45-, or 60-minute weekly lesson
A musicianship class
Wind ensemble or chamber music when available

The Wind Program at CPSM offers lessons on all brass and woodwind instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, and saxophone. Students may generally start wind lessons at the age of nine or older. In some instances younger students may be able to start with certain wind instruments. Aside from private instruction, students are offered the opportunity to perform in a variety of ensembles.

For younger players, CPSM’s beginning wind ensemble provides an introduction to performing in a group setting. More advanced players will benefit from experience with the advanced wind ensemble or chamber music. Chamber ensembles offer students the opportunity to work in a setting with mixed instrumentation, often including strings and piano.

CPSM’s Wind Program also features the Learn Another Instrument program. This program was initiated for intermediate to advanced pianists or string players who, with permission of their instructor, may study the oboe, bassoon, French horn, or trombone and receive a partial subsidy from CPSM for these lessons. Please contact the CPSM office for further information.
