Internships

The Queens College Libraries offer a very limited number of unpaid internships during Fall and Spring semesters to graduate students enrolled in Library and Information Science programs.
To receive academic credit, all prospective student candidates should seek approval from their graduate departments prior to applying for the internship positions.
Fall 2013 Internship Opportunities
The Benjamin Rosenthal Library invites applications for the following two academic library internships available during the Fall 2013 semester:
- Resource Sharing Internship
and - Collection Development/Acquisitions Internship
These unpaid internship positions are aimed at providing current LIS students with a practical field experience. The successful candidates will have an opportunity to be part of an academic library environment and work with librarians responsible for resource sharing, collection development and acquisitions.
Qualifications
The candidates must be currently enrolled students in the LIS Master's program. All prospective candidates must have approval from the course coordinator prior to applying for the internship position. The QC GSLIS Master's program candidate must have completed 21 credits and be enrolled in the GLIS 795 Internship course to obtain academic credit.
Candidates must show initiative, flexibility and ability to work in a team based environment. Familiarity with the CUNY catalog and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is highly desirable.
Schedule
10–15 hours per week per semester is required. Position is available as of the start of the Fall 2013 semester. Review of applications begins immediately.
