Request Book Chapter Reserves
If an item was processed for a previous semester you do not need to resubmit the copy — please use the Reserves Renewal Request form instead. To process new materials you must also send an email message to QC_Reserve@qc.cuny.edu when submitting this form, and attach the cited document. Please include:
- your name and course name/number,
- the chapter copy, attached, with the same name as specified in your submission.
Warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in this law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use”, that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgement, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
The Library will place limited material from a book on ERes. In the event that the amount requested exceeds CUNY fair use guidelines the Library will request the appropriate permission from the rightsholder. If permission is denied or is prohibitively expensive, the entire book will be placed on print Reserve. If neither the Library nor the instructor owns the book, the Library will try to purchase it.
