Biographical Information:
Susan A. Davis is a Professor of Music Education at Queens College with research interests in string methods, music education philosophy, and mentoring in music teacher education. Professor Davis has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in string methods, curriculum and assessment in music education, bibliography and research materials, and secondary methods.

Professor Davis completed her doctoral dissertation under the mentorship of international scholar, David Elliott at New York University. Susan has been published in the American String Teachers Journal, American Music Review and the International Journal of Music Education. She has presented multiple papers and workshops for NAfME conferences, the American String Teachers Association, the International Society for Music Education, NYSSMA and the MayDay Group Colloquium.

As a violinist, Professor Davis has made numerous appearances throughout New York and the surrounding area. In a duo with guitarist, Eric B. Davis, Eric and Susan released a CD entitled "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep: An Album of Classical Lullabies," which received a National Parenting Publications Award and an iParenting Award of Excellence.

Professor Davis previously taught in the Smithtown Central School District for 14 years where she led multiple string, symphonic and chamber orchestras. She also founded, led and arranged for her alternative styles ensemble, the West Side Fiddlers.
