Biographical Information:
Since he began teaching in 1988, Andrés Andrade has sent hundreds of students to musical careers and further studies in the world's leading conservatories and music colleges. A graduate of New England Conservatory, he has performed over thirty roles in operatic, operetta, musical theatre, and zarzuela repertoire. He spent five years on the vocal faculty and as director of the Opera Theatre at LaGuardia Arts High School, where among his productions, Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice was the feature of a news segment on National Public Radio's Morning Edition. In 2005, he founded Citywide Youth Opera, a training program for high school and early college-age singers. He is author of several articles on the topic of high-school opera production and his first book, Absolute Beginners Voice, was released in spring, 2008.

Beginning his own studies at the age of 14, his voice teachers include Annamary Dickey, Helen Hodam, Susan Clickner, and Virginia Pyle. His extensive stage experience includes roles in Rigoletto, Carmen, Three Sisters Who are Not Sisters, Fables (Rorem), Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Luisa Fernanda, La Dolorosa, La gran vía, El dúo de la Africana, Company, The Crucible, The Chocolate Soldier, Christopher Columbus, The Magic Flute, Albert Herring, Dido and Aeneas and The Tsar Has His Photograph Taken. Recital appearances have featured the music Wolf, de Falla, Roussel, Britten, Schubert and Sor; and the Boston premiere of Daniel Pinkham's song cycle When Love Was Gone.

Andrade has taught at the Aaron Copland School of Music, CUNY Queens College since 2005 and is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and the New York Singing Teachers Association.
