Biographical Information:
Brett Deubner, one of this generation's most accomplished violists, has inspired worldwide critical acclaim for his powerful intensity and sumptuous tone. Recent performances include concerto appearances with over 40 orchestras on 4 continents including the Grand Rapids Symphony, the Thuringer Symphoniker in Saalfed, Germany, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the Knoxville Symphony, the Grainger Wind Symphony in Melbourne, the Filharmonic del Quito, String Orchestra of the Rockies, the National Symphony of Ecuador, the State Orchestra of Merida, Venezuela, the New Symphony of Sofia, Bulgaria, Orchestra Bell'Arte of Paris, Peninsula Symphony of California and the Kiev Camerata in Ukraine. Brett Deubner is featured in Wikipedia for his viola transcription and recordings of the 2 viola concerti of Frank Lewin.

He has collaborated with some of today's leading conductors such as Ann Manson, Perry So, Lucas Richman, David Lockington, Patricio Aizaga, Oliver Weder and Rossen Milanov.

Brett Deubner's commitment to extending the repertoire for the viola is made evident by collaborations with some of today's greatest composers such as Samuel Adler, Lalo Schifrin, Andrew Rudin, David Del Tredici and several of this generation's leading young composers. To date, over 80 works for viola including over 30 viola concerti and numerous solo and chamber works for viola have been dedicated to and premiered by Brett Deubner.

As a recording artist, Brett Deubner has 15 CDs to his credit on the Naxos, Albany, Centaur and Extreme Medium labels. With French pianist Caroline Fauchet he released a debut cd on Centaur of 19th century works and this season they finished a new CD of all contemporary works written for them. Also this season, Naxos released two cds by Brett featuring the viola music of Swiss composer Frank Ezra Levy.

Brett Deubner is an adjunct faculty member at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College in New York City and formerly served on the faculty at the Boyer School of Music and Dance at Temple University in Philadelphia. Constantly in demand as a master class visiting guest and chamber music collaborator, Brett Deubner is on the faculty of the International Festival at Round Top, the Musica Negli Horti festival in Tuscany, Italy and is the Artistic Director of the concert series, "Music and More" in New Jersey where he makes his home.
