Queens College Women's Choir

Sandra Babb, conductor

The Queens College Women’s Choir is a non-auditioned ensemble consisting of both music and non-music majors, alike.  It was officially established in the fall of 2011, having previously existed as a subset of the QC Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Sandra Babb.   This ensemble was created to give the women of Queens College an opportunity to perform great treble repertoire and to give the students another singing opportunity outside of the traditional mixed choir experience.  A great focus of this group is empowering women through song, often featuring prominent women composers and our own student composers.

In additional to our regular concert season, previous performances include Debussy’s la Damoiselle Élue, Puccini’s Suor Angelica, The Queens College 75th Anniversary, and a performance at Citifield for Queens College Day with The Mets organization.  This year, the Queens College Women’s Choir is excited to perform for the New York ACDA Fall Conference, the Queens College Orchestra’s performance of Debussy’s Nocturnes, and a joint collaboration with the QC Choirs on Robert Ray’s Gospel Mass and Mendelssohn’s Elijah.
