Course of Study
The MA program is undergoing significant changes. Requirements listed below are subject to change. Interested students are advised to contact Prof. William Rothstein, the Graduate Advisor for the Master of Arts in Music.
Currently, composition majors are required to take three semesters of composition lessons (MUSIC 729, 730, 731, or 732) plus MUSIC 742, 784, 785, and electives to total 36 credits. Theory majors are required to take MUSIC 700, 742, 7451, 746, and two seminars in music theory (MUSIC 762 or 763), plus electives to total 36 credits. Majors in music history (musicology) are required to take MUSIC 700, 706, 742, and two seminars in music history (MUSIC 760 or 761), plus electives to total 36 credits.
