Policies for E-Tutoring Consultations

  • NOTE: E-TUTORING WILL BE TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED OCTOBER 8th and 9th.
  •  At this time, this service is only available to registered Queens College students.
  • Limitations to tutoring: We will not correct your text, nor will we tell you what to write. We will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your text and point out patterns of significant grammar and usage errors.
  • We will try to respond within 24 hours from the time of your submission for papers up to 1250 words in length and within 72 hours for papers between 1250-2500 words long.
  • Papers longer than 2500 words can be submitted, but the time of response must first be negotiated with the e-tutor.
  • When the College is officially closed, the e-tutoring service is temporarily suspended as well.
  • Resubmissions of the same essay will be accepted ONLY if substantive revisions in content have first been made--resubmissions asking for grammatical help only will be returned!

Your E-Tutor's Commentary

A general comment about your work and specific suggestions for improvement will follow the text of your submission. The e-tutor may also highlight words or phrases as examples of grammatical errors that appear frequently or follow a pattern of faulty usage.

Hyperlinks to the CUNY WriteSite, Writing Center materials, and other helpful resources will appear in the body of our e-mail response to you.
