Through the Spring of 2005, I directed the Queens LOTE Consortium (LOTE = Languages Other Than English), a cross-campus collaborative body consisting of the language departments in the four CUNY campuses in the borough of Queens: Queens College, York College, LaGuardia Community College and Queensborough Community College. One of the primary objectives for the Consortium is to promote the use of instructional technology in the affiliated departments. I am presently experimenting with ways in which instructional technology (both in-class and asynchronous) can enhance teaching and learning in higher education, especially in the teaching/learning of linguistics and languages.
