Michael J. Miller is a graduate of Penn State Erie-Behrend College (BA - Speech Communication 1989), Rutgers University's School of Communication, Information and Library Studies (MLS 1990), and of Lehigh University's Graduate Educational Technology Program (MS Educational Technology 1996).  He worked as a general reference librarian at Lehigh University until moving to New York City as the Social Work Librarian at  Columbia University.  In 1998 he advanced to the position as Manager of Reference and Electronic Resources at the Brooklyn Public Library.  He is presently (July, 2004) Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Access Services at Queens College - CUNY.  He has also been an adjunct lecturer in both the Queens College and Pratt Institute graduate library sciences programs teaching digital libraries, basic reference, advanced reference, and web design courses in both traditional and distance formats.

Cumulative experience brings expertise in direct reference services, collection development, managing digital resources and services, grant processes and management, library personnel management, curatorial, archival, strategic planning and policy development.

Michael J. Miller is also a long-time member of the American Library Association (ALA), and has been a productive participant and leader in ACRL, SRRT, RUSA, GLBTRT, and on Council and its Committees.
