P.S.: Yes, it IS possible to disable macros in Word. However, unless you're a relgiously up-to-date Windows/Office expert, you never know what OTHER virus-prone (or worse) fancy features the folks at Microsoft (or at Corel too, for that matter) may have decided to add to their application document files, besides macros. I myself learned only recently about the hazards of Scrap Files, for instance. Microsoft has a long history of hidden (for the sake of ease of use) whiz-bang features which are enabled by default, with security as an afterthought, and with vital security information hidden by default (e.g. filename extensions). Frankly, like most other people, I simply do not have time to stay on top of all of the myriad security holes in Microsoft products. It is much simpler to "just say no" to E-mailing anything but plain text. In my opinion, it ought to be considered the height of rudeness, akin to sneezing in people's faces, to E-mail anyone a Word document unless ASKED to do so. And, even then, I would advise E-mailing it only if either you or the person to whom you are E-mailing it is in the habit of staying up-to-date on all of Microsoft's security updates and other cutting-edge security information -- something which even a lot of PC network system administrators don't bother to do, sometimes at a cost of millions to their employers.
